The Foundation of Current Republican Policies Can be Found Here
From American Thinker:
…Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery.
Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country…Encouraging those who burden society to participate in elections isn’t about helping the poor. It’s about helping the poor to help themselves to others’ money…Registering the unproductive to vote is an idea that was heavily promoted by the small-c communists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven…
Here’s the basis of so many current Republican policies that have a lot of people scratching their heads – voter IDs that make it harder for low income people to vote, cutting aid, not extending unemployment insurance. It can all be boiled down to a very simple belief:
Poor people are inferior. They’re “criminals.” They’re “unproductive.” They’re a “burden.”
They shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
