The gap between those who run wealthy institutions like banks and the rest of us has become so immense that the heinous consequences of banker fraud are spoken of as if the whole thing were a natural disaster. Bankers can no more be punished for what they’ve wrought than can Mother Nature after a tsunami or hurricane.
